What does this test measure?

Reading WPM is the passage’s word count divided by active reading time in minutes. Paused time and time spent answering questions are excluded. Effective WPM multiplies that reading rate by the fraction of correct answers.

For example, 300 WPM with 2 of 3 answers correct gives 200 effective WPM. This is an example, not your result.

Read the whole passage without skipping. Readings shorter than five seconds do not receive a speed result. This short check is practice, not a standardized assessment; knowing the passage already can affect your score.
