US officials announced on 8 October that eight firms were being suspended from the Permanent Labor Certification programme, known as PERM. The firms named were Microsoft, Adobe, Cognizant, Infosys, TCS, Wipro, HCL and Capgemini. Officials alleged abuse of the programme; those allegations are not court findings.
Follow-up reporting on 9 October described a halt to new and pending PERM applications involving those employers. PERM is a step in many employer-sponsored green-card cases. The reported action does not announce blanket cancellation of Indians’ existing green cards or automatic cancellation of existing H-1B visas.
TCS said it did not expect an effect on its workforce strategy or client engagements, citing few recent PERM applications. That is the company’s assessment. Employees awaiting sponsorship may still face delays; individual outcomes depend on the case and subsequent official instructions.
