Wipro reported net income of ₹32 billion, equivalent to ₹3,200 crore, for the quarter ended 30 September. Its results announcement on 15 October put profit 1.9% below the same period a year earlier and 4.7% below the preceding quarter.
IT-services revenue was flat sequentially in constant-currency terms and rose 0.6% from a year earlier. The services operating margin reached 16.5%, an improvement of half a percentage point over the previous quarter.
These measures describe different aspects of the business: profit, underlying services revenue and operating profitability. An improvement in one does not automatically imply that all three grew over the same comparison period.
