Delhi recorded its wettest October day in four years, according to a PTI report citing the India Meteorological Department on 12 October. Safdarjung received 41.6 millimetres of rain in the 24 hours ending at 8:30 that morning.
The rainfall brought disruption and an unusual spell of wet conditions for the time of year. The measurement describes one station and a defined reporting period, rather than an identical amount falling throughout the entire city.
The comparison is with October days during the previous four years, not an all-time rainfall record. This retrospective measurement also does not serve as a current warning level or forecast for subsequent days.
