The International Monetary Fund raised its growth forecast for India to 7% for financial year 2026–27, according to reports on 13 October. That compares with a 6.4% projection in its July assessment.
The forecast for 2027–28 was also put at 7%, up from 6.7%. The revisions formed part of an international outlook that continued to identify risks from energy costs, geopolitical disruption and financial uncertainty.
These are projections, not measured growth already achieved. Indian financial years and calendar years cover different periods, so a calendar-2026 figure elsewhere in the outlook should not be substituted for the financial-year estimate reported here.
